family mapAT&T has just unveiled a new service that is sure to be a hit with parents.  We all worry about the safety of our children (have you seen InstantAmber?).

FamilyMap will help parents keep tabs on their children in real time as long as they have their cell phone turned on (there is currently no support for “pre-paid” or “Go” services).

Once you sign in to the FamilyMap website, you will be able to see your child’s location mapped on a Microsoft Virtual Earth map.  There is even a Bird’s Eye view of the location.  You can also schedule alerts at certain times to find out where your child is.

FamilyMap is free for 30 days, then costs $14.99 per month.  You can use it to track as many as 5 family members.

I’m just guessing here, but I’d bet that many unscrupulous husbands will be less than enthusiastic about this new feature.
