AT&T has reportedly declared was on 4chan. Do they know what they’re getting themselves into? Probably not.
AT&T has begun blocking some of 4chan.org’s most highly trafficked message boards, including the infamous /b/ board. moot, who began 4chan and runs the site to this day, has already written a post about this on the 4chan status blog.
The censorship at this time extended only to AT&T DSL customers, with wireless (3G) customers believed to be unaffected.
Word began to spread about the blatant censorship once a post showed up on reddit detailing what had occurred. From there, the news spread like wildfire even reaching Google News.
I really don’t think AT&T has any idea what kind of firestorm they are about to unleash here.
Let’s not forget that 4chan has been able to hack the Time 100 list, and even Google Trends. If we had to guess, we’d say that AT&T chose…poorly.
