Here’s a bombshell for you. Yesterday, former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted in a prepared statement that he had fathered a love child with a longtime household staff member before he was elected into office in 2002.
The revelation comes just one week after Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, his wife of 25 years, announced they were “amicably separating” and only two weeks after the couple’s 25th wedding anniversary.
“After leaving the governor’s office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago,” Schwarzenegger said.
“I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry.”
The couple have four children together between the ages of 14 and 21.
Shriver said she has no comment on the matter at this time.
The anonymous staffer declined to comment after learning of Schwarzenegger’s statement, but said she recently retired “on good terms” with the couple after working for them for 20 years.
