Are you vain? Just how vain are you? Want your own Facebook URL? Good news...here are they come.
Facebook is about to start letting you claim a vanity URL that redirects to your profile page. You should begin to see it later on this week.
The vanity URL rules won't allow trademark infringement nor certain other generic terms. Other than that, expect to see a Facebook free-for-all.
This feature was available previously to some commercial entities, but not to individual users...until now.
Facebook has recently polled users to see if they’d pay for a vanity URL, although it's unclear at this point if you will have to pay to get one or not.
It's about time, really, as this feature already exists on MySpace, Twitter, and even Google now.
Stay tuned for more later this week...and be ready to move quickly!
