If you’re not, you should be. Of course, I’m talking about Google Trends. You should really start checking Google Trends every few hours.
Why?
You are looking for consistent trends that pop up throughout the day. This is where the gold is hiding.
There are cheap AdWords keywords hiding on Google Trends that no one has even THOUGHT of bidding on yet.
For example, a quick look at Trends this very minute reveals that the following search terms are hot:
“brian westbrook injury” (hmm, are there any Clickbank e-books about sports betting?)
“i tried to do handstands for you lyrics” (can you say ‘ringtones’?)
“ipod commercial song” (more ringtones perhaps?)
Now, here is the REAL golden ticket on Trends. Domain names. I’m not talking about buying domain names based on these hot searches (although sometimes that’s not a bad idea either).
I’m talking about BIDDING on actual domain names. In other words, let’s say you set up your nice sports betting book ad campaign on AdWords. Instead of bidding on, say, “brian westbrook injury”, why not bid on “espn.com” or “nfl.com”?
Of course, the even smarter way to do it would be to bid on domain names that appear on Google Trends.
Here are a few domain names that I spotted throughout the day today:
disneychannel.com
mygrapple.com (I don’t even know what this is…lol)
containthetruth.com
1lovecrush.com
hugecrushonyou.com (what? you’re not doing ‘crush’??)
Why are these domain names showing up in Trends? Sometimes, people are just to lazy to type the www into their browser, and if they already have Google set as their home page, they just type in these domain names figuring that Google will take them right to it. They are right, EXCEPT that first there is a page of search results.
I can guarantee you that most of the results pages for searches done on any of the domain names above had either NO Google AdWords results or just ONE ad showing today.
These are the cheapest clicks in town, friends. You have to be quick, and you have to be smart. Don’t even get me started on Google Insights. That’s basically like Trends on steroids…but that’s another post for another time. Have fun.
