It’s OK, you’re NOT a loser.  Well, maybe you are, I really don’t know.

What I DO know is that you shouldn’t worry too much if you suddenly have fewer Twitter followers.

The messaging service says it will be removing deleted and suspended accounts from users’ lists of followers some time today.

We’ll be releasing a change later this afternoon that will start removing deleted and suspended users from your list of followers. As this hasn’t been cleaned up previously, you may notice your follower counts go down. This is to be expected.

This will not happen all at once but over time.

So don’t be alarmed, people really DO still like you.

On another note though, the third-party service, Qwitter, apparently no longer works.

Qwitter was a nifty little program that would notify you when someone stops following you on Twitter.  Now you will just have to rely on other factors, like reduced ‘follower’ counts….just kidding.
