UPDATE: See the latest at this new post - Alaska Volcano Eruption
...One has to wonder if they are - and things are really getting interesting now.
Of course, we posted the other day that you can now follow the updates on Mount Redoubt via Twitter. This message was just sent moments ago...
In addition, you can now follow the Alaska volcano via live webcam, but the site is currently down due to high traffic levels.
As you may or may not know is that Alaska lies along the same plate seam as Seattle, which experienced a 4.6 magnitude earthquake this morning. It would seem that the Seattle earthquake and the fate of the Alaska volcano ARE intertwined somehow.
UPDATE: This just in from Mount Redoubt. The volcano MAY HAVE JUST BLOWN. The webcam site now links to another page with containing the following picture...
Note the date in the upper left corner. My first thought was that they were just showing us a picture of what the volcano looked like last time it erupted, then we noticed the date stamp.
Did Mount Redoubt just erupt? NOTE: We have NO confirmation of this. We will update you when we know more.
UPDATE: More pictures rolling in. It certainly LOOKS like the volcano has erupted but still waiting for confirmation...
