Just days after the approval, and subsequent removal, of a shocking iPhone app called Baby Shaker, Apple has issued an apology.
In the statement, Apple admits that the highly disturbing iPhone application was “deeply offensive” and a “mistake.” Baby Shaker made its debut in the App Store on Monday. It was removed yesterday amid a firestorm of media criticism.
The official statement from Apple is as follows:
“This application was deeply offensive and should not have been approved for distribution on the App Store. When we learned of this mistake, the app was removed immediately. We sincerely apologize for this mistake and thank our customers for bringing this to our attention.”
It would seem that Sikalosoft, the company that created the Baby Shaker app, has had a BFO (Blinding Flash of the Obvious). Is a post on their website they state, “Okay, so maybe the Baby Shaker iPhone app was a bad idea.”
The bottom portion of the website now contains information on Shaken Baby Syndrome, or SBS.
