A small percentage of users experienced a yet another Gmail outage yesterday.

The latest outage, reported by the BBC, is affecting only a “small subset of users.” Google gave the BBC its standard Gmail downtime line:

“We’re aware of a problem with Gmail affecting a small subset of users. The affected users are having difficulty accessing their accounts. The team is working as quickly as they can to resolve the problem. We know how important e-mail is to our users, so we take issues like this very seriously.”

In related news, Hitwise reports that over the past two weeks, visits to Gmail have been consistently greater than those to the popular Google-owned video site YouTube.

These two sites have been battling for the number 10 spot overall since the week ending January 10.

Historically, the same top 10 sites have been locked into their respective positions, so this shift indicates the first significant change in quite a while.
