The American Idol Top 12 finalists took the stage last night to perform some of the Rolling Stones‘ greatest hits.

Andrew Garcia shed his guitar and sang “Gimme Shelter”.

Andrew took control of the stage but was a little pitchy.  Randy Jackson agreed, saying he was “pitchy all over the place.”  Ellen DeGeneres, on the other hand, said it was his best performance yet.

Kara DioGuardi again went on a tangent about the lack of connection to the song, which is about the Vietnam War.  Simon Cowell again called her criticism rubbish, saying, “What was he supposed to do, come out in a tank?”

Simon has a point.  Kara needs to lighten up.  Just because you’re singing a song about Vietnam doesn’t mean you have to have been in the Vietnam War to sing it properly.  She’s getting a little carried away these last few weeks.
