The voting has officially begun and the American Idol results are in.
After twelve contestants performed on Tuesday night, only three were sent to the next round of competition on last night’s American Idol. Nine people were eliminated.
Host Ryan Seacrest announced that 24 million votes had been cast the day before and that three contestants had gained the most votes (highest male vote-getter, highest female vote-getter and next highest vote-getter).
They are Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver and Danny Gokey.
Alexis sang “Never Loved a Man” by Aretha Franklin and was called “the best one so far” by Simon Cowell. Michael Sarver performed Gavin DeGraw‘s “I Don’t Wanna Be” and Danny Gokey sang “Hero” by Mariah Carey.
All three contestants have now secured a top in the American Idol Top 12 and will be back performing as finalists on Tuesday, March 10.
