Alex Zendejas

Arizona State beat Arizona 30-29 in double overtime last night in a punt-fest that went horribly, horribly wrong.  In just the first 30 minutes of the game, both offenses combined for 14 punts.

Things started to get ugly in a hurry.  First, Arizona State’s Trevor Hankins unleashed a magnificent 8-yard punt off the side of his foot at the beginning of the second quarter.

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, four plays later Arizona’s Alex Zendejas managed to kick the rare zero-yard punt.

Even that wasn’t the worst thing to happen to Zendejas on this night.  With 33 seconds left in the game, his extra point kick was blocked, sending the game into overtime at 20-20.

Arizona answered an ASU touchdown in the second overtime to pull within a point at 30-29.  Yet again, Zendejas had another extra point blocked to put an exclamation point on one of the worst nights in college football history.
