A weak signal, perhaps emanating from one of the two black boxes aboard the Air France A330 that crashed last month, has been detected.
These black boxes make a pinging sound for detection. This sound can be heard from up to 1.25 miles away. The noise is only made for 30 days after the crash, meaning that time could be running out.
Some French officials have said that the noise wasn’t a black box, and officials have been unable to confirm the story saying only that they cannot validate the signal at this time.
The search now involves ships from the United States, Brazil and France.
