We previously wrote about how Obama owes it all to Mister Wong, a tongue-in-cheek reference to his popularity on the internet.

Turns out we were incorrect.  It now looks as though he owes it all to Google, that is, if contributions are ay indication.

The San Francisco Gate reports that several of Google’s top executives have donated significant amounts towards Obama’s inauguration galas, dinners and receptions.

The max allowed contribution is $50,000. A total of six Google executives gave $150,000 in total to the special day. CEO Eric Schmidt, co-founder Larry Page and YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley all contributed $25,000 individually. Plus former Google manager, Chris Sacca, contributed $50,000.

To welcome the new president, Google is going so far as to plan an invitation-only ball on Jan. 20 in Washington. The event is being hosted with the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights.

A Google spokesman declined to comment.
