AJ Pierzynski George W BushThe ball was hit foul. A.J. Pierzynski thought he had a play, but alas, he missed it. At least he got to visit with George W. Bush, albeit for just a second.

The Chicago White Sox catcher tried to make the play in the sixth inning Monday night against the Texas Rangers, but he was unable to do so, allowing the ball to come crashing down into the owners box containing the former President and team president Nolan Ryan (and their wives).

It wasn’t until after the play was over that the play was over that Pierzynski realized he had a brush with “W”.

“Obviously, I knew (Bush) was there,” Pierzynski said. “When I saw the ball go up, I actually thought I had a chance to catch it. I was going to reach around. I needed about another foot and then I realized I almost jumped in the president’s lap. It was funny. I had Nolan Ryan and George W. Bush sitting within 5 feet of each other.

“I told him just ’cause he was the president doesn’t mean I wouldn’t jump on top of him…He and his wife got a good chuckle out of it. It was a light moment.”

The White Sox ended up losing last night 4-0.
