Normally, you don’t think much of your water bill. If it’s over $100 per month, it’s high for my neighborhood.
Just be glad you don’t live in Georgia, where last summer, some Atlanta-area water bills went from about $200 to over $3,000!
“I thought we were sinking in a hole of water,” Debbi Scarborough tells CNN. “It scared me to death. I thought we had a major leak when I got the bill.”
In 2010, her family’s water bill went from $200 – $250, to $1,805 In July and $1,084 in August, leaving her with a balance due of over $3,000.
“I’m not paying a $3,000 bill. And for those three months, we were pretty much out of town most of the time and there’s no leaks,” she said.
