Even though he had made an appearance in the animated short Plane Crazy about six months earlier, November 18, 1928 is formally known as Mickey Mouse's birthday. This was the day that Steamboat Willie (the very first Mickey Mouse cartoon) was released.
Few animated characters have been as influential or as long lived as Mickey Mouse. So how can you celebrate his birthday?
Here are a few simple ideas:
- Try to draw a picture of Mickey Mouse.
- Make a birthday card for Mickey Mouse.
- Try one of these Mouse Crafts.
- Ask the kids if they know who Mickey Mouse is.
- Ask the kids to name some of Mickey's friends.
- Watch a movie with Mickey Mouse in it and sing happy birthday when/if you see Mickey.
- Have birthday cake for a snack.
- Use rubber mice for counting and sorting activities.
