24 jack bauerI haven’t blogged about 24 much this season.  Frankly, I’m just not as big a fan as I used to be and I am nowhere near as rabid about this show as I am about Lost on ABC.

That having been said, I do still enjoy what was once the most compelling and addicting show on television and the season finales have always more than lived up to expectations in my book.

Until tonight.

SPOILER ALERT

Seriously, stop here unless you have already seen the season 7 finale.

Just how much are we supposed to suspend our disbelief here?  Jack Bauer is so close to death from his exposure to a bio-agent that he has to be put into a coma to ease his symptoms.

Are we to believe that Jack’s daughter, Kim, can just miraculously show up as Jack is about to die and offer to undergo the experimental t-cell procedure that could save his life?  Don’t get me wrong, I’m always happy to see Elisha Cuthbert, mind you.  >:-)

Jack is about 5 minutes from death here!  Not only that, but the worst symptom that he can manage to portray this close to death is that he blinks a little funny?  Oh, and his hand is shaking a bit.

Suddenly, he’s near death and needs to be placed in a coma to “ease his pain”.

Luckily, it’s not too late for that life-saving operation.

Is this “Star Trek: The Next Generation” (Berman Edition) all of a sudden where we can just push the “reset” button and everything goes back to normal?

This is worse than that moment  a few seasons ago where Jack miraculously avoid the fallout from the nuclear bomb that went off in California – by ducking behind a rock!

On top of that, we’re left with a pissed off Tony Almeida who is going to be uber-pissed at Jack for not letting him get his revenge on the man that orchestrated the murders of his wife, and President Palmer.

Right from the start, turning Tony into a “bad guy” was such a huge disappointment that I almost didn’t finish watching this season.  It’s just implausible for a guy as patriotic as Tony, even if someone did kill his wife.

Jack’s cliffhanger / potential chance to be saved just moments from death?  FAIL.

Tony Almeida as a vengance-seeking villain?  FAIL.

Mr. Bad Guy played by the nice guy from “Remember the Titans“?  FAIL.

Cliffhanger with super-conflicted Federal agent alone in a room with Mr. Bad Guy?  FAIL.

I know I gave you a spoiler alert earlier, but seriously, if you have this saved on your DVR or Tivo, just delete it now.

On second thought, you’d better at least watch it or Keifer may give you a vicious head-butt.
