Crystal balls, I mean. Let’s look into ours and see what we here at Blippitt predict will happen in 2012. We’ve even included some predictions from our readers at the end.

In the world of politics, Mitt Romney will “win” a rigged 2012 presidential election. The real damage, though, will be done when Romney is named the GOP’s choice for presidential candidate even though Ron Paul has won over American voters. Paul’s no-nonsense platform of eliminating the Federal Reserve and and keeping America’s nose out of everyone else’s business will win over citizens fed up with a corrupt-and-failing monetary system that continues to bail out the rest of the world and a president who signs away Americans’ civil liberties at the drop of a hat, despite having “reservations.”
The global awakening that began with the Arab Spring will fully engulf the U.S. in the spring once we try to go to war with Iran and things will never be the same.
The aforementioned global financial system will implode and the dollar will collapse. A new monetary system will be adopted…one that is fair and sustainable. The Fed will cease to exist.
Meanwhile, the mainstream media will continue to cover burning issues like how “Anxiety Is Good for You” and the names of the latest panda bears born in China.
Researchers at CERN will finally prove that the Higgs boson particle exists. Numerous other Earth-like exoplanets will be discovered. Extraterrestrials will communicate openly with society and let us know that they’ve been with us for a very long time. Hey, I know it’s a long shot…but just watch.
An earthquake will strike just off the coast of the U.S.
What celebrities will we lose in 2012? I’m sorry to report that you should say your goodbyes to Abe Vigoda, Dick Clark, Muhammad Ali, Pope Benedict XVI, and Lindsay Lohan. There’s just no way she can continue to maintain her lifestyle and come out of it alive.
In the Super Bowl, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers will defeat the Baltimore Ravens in a game that will come down to the final play.
“The Hobbit” will shatter box office records when part one is released in late 2012 and it will go on to become the top-grossing film of all time.
Two and a Half Men will be cancelled in late 2012 as ratings bottom out.
On December 21, 2012, nothing will happen.
As for predictions you can take to the bank…
Some virtually unknown person will have a video that goes unintentionally viral and they will quickly become an internet sensation and a household name, appearing on the Today show and The Ellen DeGeneres Show…and then vanish from the mainstream about two months later.
A celebrity couple will divorce after it is revealed that one of them was unfaithful.
A professional athlete will have his or her reputation tarnished after it is revealed that they used performance-enhancing drugs.
A large company will file for bankruptcy.
A new study will reveal that one of your favorite foods can cause cancer.
A criminal will do something unbelievably stupid that leads to his or her capture. A high speed police chase will be caught on film. A police officer will be suspended after video of him using excessive force hits the media.
A teacher will be fired for having sex with a student.
Someone who never should have survived something will survive and their inspirational story will be told on network morning news programs.
Someone will drop an F-bomb on live television.
A new strain of virus will have folks fearing for their lives.
Several hundred animals will suddenly die.
A celebrity will have a meltdown of epic proportions.
Another tech giant will try to come out with another smartphone we don’t need, probably Facebook or Amazon. My money is on Amazon so you can just buy from them right from your phone (yes, you can do with now with the iPhone, etc. but Amazon probably wants to just cut out the middle man).
Finally, here are some predictions from our Blippitt readers:
Rachel F. and Pamela both say, “President Obama will lose the presidential election.”
Mike S. says, “The Ravens will win the Super Bowl in the Irsays’ house.”
Josh M. says, “We will see more dead dictators in 2012.”
Thomas has a slew of predictions for us. Here are a few:
- “The New Madrid fault will cause major destruction to North America.”
- “Japan’s nuclear waste will reach the West Coast, causing immense damage all along the West Coast.”
- “Bigger earthquakes will strike in South and Central America causing lots of death and destruction.”
- “Solar flares will cause power outages and satillites to go out of control.”
- “The United States, in the early spring, will be engulfed in massive civil unrest.”
Our favorite prediction for the new year comes from David M., who says, “Blippitt will continue to be a leading source for news and entertainment.”
