Excitement is in the air and tonight is the big night. NBC will be broadcasting live coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony.

On February 12, 2010, the BC Place in Vancouver will go dark and the Olympic flame will be lit.

John Furlong has not disclosed what occur during the lighting ceremony, but he has promised that it will “unite passionate Canadians, thrill the world’s best winter athletes and bring hope to the world over.”

This is the first indoor opening ceremony and they have kept a tight lid on the details, only to be revealed on opening night.

The Opening Ceremonies, as well as the two week Olympic event, will be broadcast by NBC. You can view the full TV schedule below, as well as an online guide for those of you who can’t afford to be glued to your televisions for two weeks straight:

Prime time Show and Opening ceremony 7:30 p.m. EST NBC’s coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games begins with the first event from Vancouver — Ski jumping — and pre-Games analysis. The opening ceremony and the lighting of the Olympic flame. The 2010 Olympic Winter Games begins in Vancouver at BC Place. This will be the first indoor Opening Ceremony.
