2009 ncaa printable brackets

The NCAA has announced the brackets for the 2009 March Madness basketball tournament on Sunday.

The “Big East” has earned a special place in history this time around.

Louisville, Connecticut and Pittsburgh join North Carolina as number one seed.  The Big East is now the first conference to have 3 teams on the top line of the NCAA tournament field.

The Cardinals, who are 28-5, were granted the top-most seed in this year’s field, having won the Big East regular season and conference tournament titles. Louisville is the top seed in the Midwest region and will play either Alabama State or Morehead State in the opening round on Friday.

Here’s the rundown by region:

Midwest Region: #1 Louisville will play the winner of Alabama vs. Morehead. #2 Michigan State plays #15 Robert Morris, #3 Kansas plays #14 North Dakota State, #4 Wake Forest will play #13 Cleveland State, #5 Utah will play #12 Arizona, #6 West Virginia will play #11 Dayton, #7 Boston College will play #10 USC, #8 Ohio State will play #9 Sienna

West: #1 Connecticut plays Chatanooga, #2 Memphis plays Cal Northridge, #3 Missouri plays Cornell, #4 Washington plays Miss St., #5 Purdue plays Northern Iowa, #6 Maquette plays Utah, #7 California plays Maryland, #8 BYU plays Texas A&M

East Region: #1 Pittsburgh plays ETSU, #8 Oklahoma meets Tennessee, #5 Florida St meets Wisconsin, #4 Xavier meets Portland, #2 Duke meets Binghamton, #7 Texas meets Minnesota, #3 Villanova meets American University, #6 UCLA will meet a solid VCU

South Region: #1 North Carolina meets Radford, #8 LSU meets Butler, #5 Illinois meets Western Kentucky, #4 Gonzaga meets Akron, #2 Oklahoma meets Morgan State, #7 Clemson meets Michigan, #3 Syracuse is the 7th Big East team in this tournament and they will meet Stephen F. Austin, #6 Arizona State will meet Temple.
