Jordan Powers, 18, told CBS13 in Sacramento that she and James Hooker are a couple again. The interview was conducted on the steps of Hooker’s apartment in Modesto.
Earlier this month, Powers said she had broken up with Hooker after allegations that he sexually abused another student over 10 years ago. Powers packed her bags and moved back to Ohio with her mother.
Tammie Powers, Jordan’s mother, said that she was worried the two were still seeing each other. After they broke up, Hooker called Jordan “relentlessly,” she said.
“She left on her own. She hired a cab and booked her own flight,” Tammie Powers said.
“It is awful. This is what pedophiles, predators do. They isolate them from family.”
Hooker was taken into custody on April 6 for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student he met at a high school conference back in 1998. He entered a not guilty plea at the time and remains free on bail.
After Powers ended the relationship, she said Hooker had lied about the affair and she had “lost everything for this guy.”
“I lost my senior year. I gave up all my friends at high school because they didn’t agree with me,” she said.
Back in February, Hooker quit his job at James Enochs High School and left his wife and three kids to be with Powers, who then dropped out of high school.
The two told many nationwide talk shows that they didn’t have sex until she turned 18.
